Last on, first off
Put your jewellery on after perfume, hairspray and lotion, and take it off before bed, exercise, swimming or showering.
Keep it dry
Water, sweat and chlorine dull plating and stones. If a piece gets wet, pat it dry straight away.
Clean gently
Wipe with the soft cloth in your box after wearing. Avoid jewellery dips, toothpaste and ultrasonic cleaners.
Store separately
Keep each piece in its pouch or box so stones and chains do not scratch or tangle.
Gold and rose-gold finishes
Plated finishes are a thin layer of precious metal over a base metal. Avoid friction and chemicals, and the colour will stay rich for longer.
Silver
Silver naturally darkens when exposed to air. Store it in its pouch and polish with a silver cloth to bring back the shine.
Pearls and stones
Pearls are delicate — wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and lay flat to dry. Coloured stones should be kept away from direct heat and long periods of strong sunlight.
In the UAE climate
Heat and humidity speed up tarnishing. Take jewellery off before the beach or pool, and keep it out of hot cars.
